Where Garden Meets Rock, watercolour on panel, 40 x 28" (SOLD)

"Perennial flower gardens in the North have amazing tenacity. They withstand freezing winters, hot dry summers, and stand their ground when the rocky landscape tries to take over.

In this scene from my garden, I love the contrast of bright spiky flowers against the subdued hues of the round river stones. I grew up near Algonquin Park and never tire of painting the rocks of the Canadian Shield.

This artwork is the largest watercolour I have done so far in my 37-year career, and the painting process took two months. I used Holbein paints I was awarded in the 2022 Women in Watercolor International Juried Competition. The watercolour paper is made in France, and the wood panel and frame are made in Canada."
