Caught in the Rain (watercolour on panel, 20 x 16")
"Irises are one of my favourite flowers to grow in my garden, and to paint. One day after a rain shower, a watery sun emerged to illuminate the drops of moisture on the petals."
Caught in the Rain is an original watercolour painting, mounted on an archival panel with a UV-resistant and moisture-resistant coating, which protects the painting and allows it to be displayed without glass.
The archival panel is mounted in a black wood float frame. The image is 14"h x 10"w and is painted on a larger (20 x 16") sheet of 100% rag watercolour paper, which allows for a 3" white border around the image. A fine, hand-painted line surrounds the image, giving the impression of double matting. Framed size 21.5"h x 17.5"w.
This painting is valued at $1,280. and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Currently this painting is on display at Meta4 Gallery in Port Perry.
This painting won an Honourable Mention Award in the Kawartha Art Gallery Juried Show (Sept. 2016). The Jurors remarked:
"A beautiful watercolour, beautifully presented. The handling of nature's colour is marvelous and I love the slight hint of green stem at the base. Water droplets... Bang on!" ~James Campbell, Curator and Executive Director, Visual Arts Centre of Clarington
"Masterful command of the medium. Bold composition that highlights the intricacy of the petals. Unique presentation that emphasises the image." ~Linda Jansma, Senior Curator, The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa
